LED Lights Are Reducing My Electric Bill
Sunday, July 6th, 2008Let me get your attention. If every U.S. household replaced just one standard 60-watt bulb with a LED bulb, we could save 24,184,400,000 watts or 24,184.4 mega (million) watts per day. Wow, that is a lot of savings for just one bulb so what is the modern miracle?
In a previous post I told you how you could save on electricity using a compact florescent bulb. I like these bulbs because they are very easy to obtain and they are relatively inexpensive. They are so efficient that in the long run they are cheaper to use than incandescent. As you will recall they can use up to 2/3 less electricity.
Well this is certainly impressive but here is a report on the latest way to save even more on electricity with a bulb that will last ten times longer than a compact florescent light and one hundred times longer than an incandescent bulb.
LED is an acronym for, Light Emitting Diodes. You have seen them in small pen flashlights and key chains. The use of these bulbs has changed significantly since their introduction. They’re durable, energy efficient and cool running.
Today companies are designing these bulbs where they are clustered together to give brighter output. They are being used to make highly efficient flashlights, traffic signals, headlights, and even light bulbs for standard fixture like you use at home.
